Support

Help with Synth Explorer on the web, iPhone, and iPad.

Contact support

For help, bug reports, or feature requests, email support@synth-explorer.com.

For troubleshooting, include your synth model, computer or mobile device, operating system, and browser or app version. Tell us what you were trying to do, what happened, and any error message you saw. Screenshots and details about your USB connection are helpful. Never send passwords or sign-in codes.

Connect your synthesizer

Synth Explorer supports the Oberheim OB-6, Oberheim TEO-5, Sequential Prophet-6, and Sequential Prophet-5 and Prophet-10 Rev4.

  1. Turn on your synth and connect it directly over USB using a data-capable cable and any adapter your device requires.
  2. Open Synth Explorer and use the connection button () beside the synth selector. Follow the setup checklist for your instrument, including its MIDI channel and USB MIDI/SysEx settings.
  3. On the web, use a browser with Web MIDI support, such as Chrome on a desktop computer, and allow MIDI access when prompted. In the iPhone and iPad app, keep the app open while using MIDI.

If your synth does not appear, check the cable and adapter, reconnect USB, and reopen the connection dialog. The mobile app detects supported synths by their USB MIDI port names; generic MIDI interfaces with different port names are not supported.

Synth Explorer sends MIDI commands, not audio. Listen through your synth's audio outputs or headphone connection.

Import your library on iPhone or iPad

  1. In the web app, sign in and open the browser where your library is stored.
  2. Open Settings and choose Save Library under Library Backup. Wait for the backup to finish.
  3. Sign in to the same Synth Explorer account in the mobile app. Open Settings and choose Import Library. An empty library also imports automatically when you sign in.

Free accounts can import up to 20 library programs, including their favorites and categories. Pro accounts can import up to 2,000 programs, plus saved favorites and categories for hardware and factory programs. Hardware program names are read from the connected synth.

Imported library programs are available offline. Imports add new programs without updating existing ones. Favorites and category changes made in the mobile app stay on that device and do not sync back to the web app.

If programs are missing, confirm that you saved a fresh cloud backup from the browser containing your library, signed in to the same account, and have room within your library limit. Choosing a different sign-in method, including Apple's Hide My Email, may open a separate account. Contact support if your expected library or Pro access is missing.

Account and privacy

To delete your account, open Settings in the mobile app and choose Delete Account. Review the confirmation carefully: deleting your account also removes its cloud backup and Pro access.

Read our Privacy Policy for details about how your information is handled.
